Kapacity.io joins EnergyHub to expand residential flexibility in Europe, optimizing heat pump energy and supporting grid decarbonization.

Kapacity.io, a European pioneer in optimizing and managing the flexibility of heat pumps, has been acquired by EnergyHub, the leading provider of residential flexibility solutions in North America. Leveraging the resources and expertise of EnergyHub, Kapacity.io will continue to focus on expanding collaborations with electric utility retailers and heat pump manufacturers. The aim is to unlock the benefits of residential flexibility for consumers.

EnergyHub’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) manages over 1.5 million distributed energy resources (DER) through more than 100 utility programs in North America. Kapacity.io supports retailers in optimizing heat pump energy consumption using dynamic tariffs and other flexibility offerings. It also provides congestion management and network balancing services to Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs), helping customers save without sacrificing comfort.

Combining Kapacity.io’s experience in European markets with EnergyHub’s expertise in delivering the largest residential flexibility programs in North America will open up new opportunities for managing a range of devices such as electric vehicles, behind-the-meter battery storage, thermostats, and more. This will enable the provision of critical network services across Europe.

“This partnership paves the way for our technology. With EnergyHub’s support, we are ready to enhance our capabilities, expand our partnerships across Europe, and deliver a superior customer experience, all while contributing to a more efficient and decarbonized electricity grid,” emphasized Jaakko Rauhala, co-founder and CEO of Kapacity.io.

EnergyHub is an independent subsidiary of Alarm.com (NASDAQ: ALRM), the leading platform for smart-connected structures.
